LIGHTWEIGHT GFRP PROFILES AND FRAMES

 

In the field of conservation and consolidation of historical and architectural heritage, certain interventions and materials have, despite offering an elevated level of resistance, reliability and safety, inherent characteristics of lightness, compatibility, reversibility and limited invasiveness with respect to existing structure on which they will act. Hence the introduction of the GFRP pultruded profiles of the FBPROFILE range, used as structural reinforcement, functional adaptation and seismic improvement of historic buildings, as well as for the creation of new, temporary or definitive structures.

The use of steel beams and profiles in existing buildings is not always possible or advisable, this being the case especially on historic buildings which generally suffer from inadequate mechanical properties. In fact, the excessive weight of metallic elements on weak structures can lead to their degradation and damage, as well as to their collapse. The difficult handling of these large elements in restricted access areas and historical centres in general can be a further problem associated with the use of traditional materials.

The use of FBPROFILE structural profiles, made up of glass fibres of different geometries and characteristics, are justified in all those applications where light and reversible materials with high performances are required. Here are some application examples:
